Great Plains Health has been recognized by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) as a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement, highlighting the hospital's commitment to high-quality orthopedic care.
This designation identifies health care facilities that meet strict standards for patient safety and deliver better health outcomes. The recognition is based on quality measures developed through a partnership between the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Patients who receive knee and hip replacement surgery at designated facilities like Great Plains Health experience:
- 21% fewer hospital readmissions within 90 days
- 21% fewer complications after surgery
- Faster recovery times
- Better overall outcomes
To earn this recognition, Great Plains Health demonstrated full accreditation from a national accrediting organization, low complication, mortality and unplanned readmission rates within 90 days after elective primary total knee and hip replacements, enhanced recovery after surgery processes and procedures in place for quality perioperative care and participation in BCBSNE's preferred provider network.
"We're incredibly proud of this recognition because it speaks to the expertise of our surgeons, nurses and other health care professionals," said Ivan Mitchell, CEO of Great Plains Health. "When someone needs knee or hip surgery, they're trusting us with their mobility and quality of life. This designation shows we're delivering on that trust with safe, efficient joint replacement services."
