Plastic and reconstructive surgery can help people look and feel their best. It can also improve well-being and quality of life, since many surgeries correct a change in appearance or function caused by treatment for a medical problem, such as cancer.
If you need a medically necessary plastic or reconstructive procedure, you can get that care here at Great Plains Health. Note that we do not currently offer cosmetic procedures.
Meet our plastic surgeon
At Great Plains Health, you have access to a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive training. Sean Figy, MD, has completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive microsurgery and a fellowship in reconstructive surgery. Dr. Figy, of Nebraska Medicine, works with Great Plains Health to bring this much-needed service to you and your loved ones.
In addition to being an accomplished surgeon, Dr. Figy holds a respected academic appointment at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He is an assistant professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is also a great patient advocate who focuses on the whole person, including their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
From breast reconstruction to gender-affirming surgery
Dr. Figy provides a wide range of surgical services in North Platte, including:
Breast reconstruction. This surgery rebuilds a breast or breasts, using implants or other methods, in women who opt to have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy for treating or preventing breast cancer.
Breast reduction. This surgery reduces the sizes of breasts in women who experience discomfort and other difficulties because they have very large breasts.
Eyelid surgery. This surgery, called blepharoplasty, reduces saggy eyelid tissue that can impair vision.
Gender-affirming chest surgery. This surgery can create a more feminine or masculine appearance by enhancing or removing the breasts. If you are seeking gender-affirming genital or gonadal surgery, Dr. Figy may plan your treatment here in North Platte and be your surgeon should you choose to have the operation at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha.
Lymphedema surgery. Lymphedema is swelling caused by a buildup of fluids, usually in the arms or legs, that may result from cancer treatment. It can also be triggered by other conditions, such as an infection. You may be a candidate for lymphedema surgery if nonsurgical treatments don’t work for you.
Wound care surgery. This surgery includes skin-grafting techniques designed to address nonhealing wounds.
