Dr. Howard Shaw, Great Plains Health chief medical officer, has been elected to serve on the American Association for Physician Leadership Board of Directors.
"The organization's primary focus is to provide superior management and leadership skills to physicians and encourage them to assume greater roles in the delivery of healthcare," said Shaw.
According to the American Association for Physician Leadership's CEO, Dr. Peter B. Angood, "The constituency of the Board is exceptional and Dr. Shaw will bring significant added value."

As part of Great Plains Health's executive team, Dr. Shaw serves to develop physician relationships and leadership, enhance quality and patient safety, and direct physician retention and onboarding efforts.
Prior to joining Great Plains Health in 2015, Dr. Shaw served as the medical director of the women's and children's department at Yale-New Haven Health System in New Haven, Conn. He led clinical integration of all obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric and neonatology services and led the obstetrics and gynecology quality and safety committees. Dr. Shaw also served as chief quality officer at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Conn.
Dr. Shaw earned a medical degree from the University of Kansas in Kansas City and a master's degree in business from the University of Massachusetts Isenberg School of Management in Amherst, Mass.
